Service Description
  1. Employment Resource Centre
    • Open to public for job search
    • Access to computers, resources, printers, fax, copier, phones
    • Employment Counsellor on duty
  2. Job Connect
    • Employment Counselling and Job Development services
    • Individual assistance
    • Wage incentives for employers to offset training costs
    • Eligibility: out of work, out of school, not collecting E.I.
    • Services are free of charge
  3. Summer Job Service
    • Assistance for participants in obtaining summer employment
    • Wage incentives for participating employers
    • Eligibility: between the ages of 15-24 and planning to return to school in the fall
    • Services are free of charge
  4. Educational Services - Grade 12 Equivalency
    • General Educational Development (GED)
      • Obtain a certificate of Grade 12 recognized by the Ministry of Education
      • Delivered off-site
      • Offered monthly
      • Fee - $93
    • GED Pre-test
      • Scores of pre-test assist in the preparation for final Ministry test (above)
      • Offered monthly - evenings
      • Fee - $50
      • GED Study Guides can be purchase for $25
    • Pick Your Path Program
      • An individual program to assist you in making appropriate and feasible career decisions
      • Great for youth looking for direction in college or university programs, or those wanting to make a career change
      • Includes formal interest and personality assessments, analysis of results, learn how to research labour market information, occupations and educational choices, goal setting and decision making
      • Includes four individual sessions with a Career Counsellor
      • Fee - $400 
  5. Certification Training
    • Smart Serve
      • Training legally required for those 18 years of age or over who work or are seeking employment in a licensed establishment where alcohol is served
      • Offered every six weeks
      • FEE - $50

    • First Aid / CPR / AED Level "C"
      • Required training for many occupations
      • Offered every six weeks
      • Fee - $70

    • WHMIS
      • Developed by IAPA for workers to avoid illness and injury associated with hazardous material
      • Offered every six weeks
      • Fee - $70

    • Fall Protection
      • Provides training for basic knowledge required to work safely in areas exposed to fall hazards
      • Required training for anyone working or seeking employment in the construction industry working above 3 metres
      • Offered every six weeks
      • Fee - $50

    • Service Excellence
      • Training that focuses on creating positive first impressions and promoting loyal customers for repeat business
      • Certification is beneficial for those working or seeking employment in the hospitality, retail or service industries
      • Fee - $125

      • Learn the basic procedures of operating a cash register, making change and working in the customer service industry
